The in-game overlay and shortcuts
Superposer has two panels inside a game:
- The quick panel: Shift+F10. A small panel with the most used settings; its first row is Open full overlay.
- The full overlay, made for a controller: every setting, live stats, screenshots and Stop game…, over the game, which keeps running behind it but gets no input while it's open. Open it with:
- a controller: the Xbox button. On a PlayStation pad it's the PS button, on other pads Home (or Guide). Holding it and pressing A (✕) works too;
- the keyboard: Right Shift+Tab, or Shift+F10 pressed twice.
Close it with B or Esc, or the same buttons again. Inside, LB/RB switch sections, Y takes a screenshot, X resets a setting, Menu saves the settings for this game and View shows or hides the HUD. With a keyboard, 1–6 jump to a section.
The overlay's Controls section chooses how it opens: Open with controller can be Xbox + A, Xbox (the default), View + Menu (press both; Create + Options on a PlayStation pad) or Off; Open with keyboard can be Right ⇧Tab, ⌃⇧F10 or Off.
Steam's overlay (friends, chat, guides, the web browser) is one press away: in Superposer's overlay, Session › Steam overlay › Open closes Superposer's and opens Steam's. Left Shift+Tab opens it too. When you close Steam's overlay, the game gets your controller back; Superposer's doesn't reopen by itself.
The two are never open together. Steam also reacts to the Xbox button (its "Guide button focuses Steam" setting): when it does on the press that opened or closed Superposer's overlay, Superposer closes Steam's again right away, so the Xbox button only ever opens Superposer's. To give the Xbox button back to Steam, set Open with controller to View + Menu or Off.
If Steam's overlay still shows up on the Xbox button (for example after you changed Steam's overlay shortcut from Shift+Tab), either put the shortcut back to Shift+Tab (Steam › Settings › In Game), or turn off Steam › Settings › Controller › Guide button focuses Steam. The second one is for all your games, so the Xbox button no longer opens Steam's overlay anywhere; Steam's overlay is still in Superposer's overlay and on Shift+Tab.
Keyboard shortcuts in a game
| Keys | What it does |
|---|---|
| Shift+F10 | Quick panel (press again for the full overlay) |
| Right Shift+Tab | Full overlay |
| Shift+F9 | Screenshot |
| Shift+F12 | Performance HUD: next detail level |
| Shift+F11 | Next upscaler |
| Shift+F6 | Frame generation on or off |
| Shift+F8 | Mimic (neural look, preview) on or off; hold Shift+F7 to compare |
The app's Game menu also has Screenshot (⌘⇧S), Show Screenshots (⌘⌥S) and Stop Game….
The overlay and shortcuts come from Superposer's in-game tools. If a game misbehaves with them, turn off In-game tools in the game's Settings. They are never loaded into games with anti-cheat, nor into Mac games that don't allow it.
