Superposer

Getting started

Updates and faster start-up

Superposer › Check for Updates… checks for a new app or runtime; Settings › Updates shows the result and lets you turn automatic checks off. (In some beta copies updates aren't switched on yet; you then get new versions from wherever you got this one.)

Settings › Updates also has Faster game start-up, two switches that are on by default:

  • Translate ahead of time ("Translate for Apple silicon ahead of time"): after an update, Superposer has Rosetta translate the runtime in the background, so the first game you start afterwards opens in seconds instead of about twenty.
  • Update game prefixes ("Update recently played games' Windows prefixes in the background"): when the runtime changes, the games you played recently get their Windows environment updated quietly, instead of while you wait for the game.

Turn either off if you'd rather nothing ran in the background.
