Performance presets

A preset sets a game's resolution, upscaler and frame rate limit for your Mac's chip and display:

  • Quality: the best picture your Mac can keep smooth.
  • Balanced: a middle ground.
  • Battery: lower resolution and frame rate, for longer play on battery.
  • Custom: your own settings (the default).

Pick the default for every game under Settings › Performance › Performance Presets, and override it per game in the game's Settings (Performance preset). Switch to Battery on battery power (off by default) changes games to Battery when you unplug; each game can say Switch to Battery or Keep this preset instead. The frame rate changes at once; the resolution at the next launch.

Auto-tune (game Settings, with Measure frame rate on) uses how the game actually ran, after a session of at least a few seconds, to suggest settings; Use for This Game applies them. Changing a single value makes the game Custom, starting from the preset's values.
