Will it work? Compatibility and Test

Every game shows a Will it work status: Works, Maybe, Doesn't work or Untested. It comes from your own tests on this Mac first, then games Superposer has verified, then other testers.

  • Compatibility (under Library in the sidebar) lists every game Superposer knows about, with filters (All sources, Superposer-verified, Your results), search and sorting. Test on this Mac opens the game's test; View in Steam store opens its store page.
  • Test (a game's Test & Reports tab) starts the game hidden, checks that it opens a window and draws real frames, then closes it. You can watch it live and Play Here to take over.
  • Games with kernel-level anti-cheat are listed as not working; see Anti-cheat.
  • The website's Games page shows what is verified, what should work and what works with issues. The games we expect to fail, or know too little about, are on a plain list: games unlikely to run, and unknown ones. One bad report never decides a game, and newer runtimes fix games, so it can be worth a try.

How games are rated. A game's verdict is Works, Works with issues or Doesn't work. It is the community's consensus: Superposer's own runs count most, then results testers shared from the app, then ProtonDB reports and Steam Deck status (which describe Linux). Recent reports count more than old ones, bad news fades faster than good news (newer runtimes fix games), reports on older runtimes count for less, and a game needs several reports before it moves up or down, so one bad vote never flips it. Kernel-level anti-cheat that refuses Wine caps a game. The method is written up in full on the website's Games page.
